Humboldt Springs Farm
Humboldt History
Humboldt Springs Farm sits on the historic site of the pre-Civil War village of Humboldt, Missouri. Once a thriving village named after the owner of the local general store, Humboldt slowly declined after the St. Louis – San Francisco Railway bypassed it for a location a mile south, now known as Crocker. Today, the village lives on through a cemetery with gravestones dating back to the 1870s and an old concrete cistern fed by a year-round spring—two of our favorite reminders of the rich history tied to our land.
Rooted in family, community, and a deep respect for the land we call home, Humboldt Springs Farm spans 40 acres of beautiful countryside. About 10 acres are cleared, giving space for our blackberry and blueberry fields, orchard, and persimmon grove, while the remaining 30 acres are forested, offering a serene natural backdrop that connects us to the land’s past and preserves its quiet beauty. Every plant, tree, and corner of our farm reflects our commitment to honoring both the land and its story for generations to come.
Caitlin & Jason
Caitlin and Jason met while living in Phoenix, Arizona, and have been a couple for over four years. With their recent engagement and upcoming wedding in 2026, they are excited to begin a new chapter together on Caitlin’s family farm, Humboldt Springs Farm.
Caitlin has spent nearly 20 years in the property management industry, but her true passions have always been art and nature. Born in Rolla, Missouri, and having lived in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico—where she attended college—this country girl at heart is thrilled to return to her roots, breathe fresh air, and embrace farm life. Combining her love of art and nature, Caitlin looks forward to managing Humboldt Springs Farm while dedicating more time to her artwork and personal business, Clover & Brooke—where heart meets art.
Jason, born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and a graduate of Arizona State University, is a true jack-of-all-trades. He brings experience from the oil and gas industry, residential and commercial construction, landscaping, and maintenance management, among other skills, making him the perfect partner for farm life and hands-on projects.
Together with their three dogs, Caitlin and Jason have built a happy, loving home filled with puppy kisses, adventure, and a shared passion for nature and creativity.
Calvin & Nedda
The property of Humboldt Springs Farm was established by Caitlin’s parents, Calvin and Nedda Penland, who have deep roots in Crocker, Missouri.
Nedda dedicated her career to teaching, coming out of retirement to continue to teach at the local school, while Calvin was raised in Crocker and carried on a lifelong legacy of community service—his parents owned the feed store in town, and Calvin himself worked at the local post office and barbered at Fort Leonard Wood for over 50 years.
